I made it to the Oklahoma/Texas state line when I discovered it missing. I was sure I had packed everything the following morning, but I left my iPad on the dresser. I stayed overnight for one evening while traveling from Illinois to California. I doubt we will be passing thru the Joplin area again any time soon but if it figures into your travel plans, it’s a great place to stop for the night.… Exactly what you might get at a Hampton (I use them as an example because that is normally my go to hotel while on the road. They had a waffle maker, scrambled eggs, Sausage, yogurt, fruit, bagels etc. Neither of us heard a thing! On to the free breakfast. Uh oh…this is going to be a noisy night/early am! I was totally wrong. My enthusiasm was tampered a bit when I looked out the window and saw we were overlooking a giant field of 18 wheeler trucks. For me the big winner was the bedding - clean, comfortable with decent pillows. The shower was an encapsulated cube (good sized) and extremely clean. It had all of what you would expect in a Hampton Inn or a Fairfield Inn (where I would normally stay overnite when traveling) - coffee maker, large flat screen TV, desk etc. Well, it WAS a surprise but I’m a really good way! The room was updated and extremely clean. I may have been subconsciously stalling before heading up to the room and what could be a “surprise”. The front desk manager was a nice guy - we had a long chat about football, etc. We were tired and ready to get off the road so we walked in and got a room. We filled up with fuel at the attached gas station and Iron Skillet Restaurant and saw the huge parking area in front of the hotel….I’ve never stayed at a Sleep Inn or truck stop hotel but what the heck - it’s only one night. We were traveling with a large truck and fifth-wheel trailer so finding a hotel/motel with ample parking close to the freeway was the challenge. Pleasantly surprised!! Would definitely recommend for an overnite. Sleep Inn - Joplin puts the best of Joplin at your fingertips, making your stay both relaxing and enjoyable.
